Rev. Dale Beck, Senior Pastor

Dale BeckBeloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. —I John 4: 7

The interim ministry year for University Park is intended as a bridge between a very fruitful 20-year ministry of an outstanding pastor to the new pastoral leadership that will begin in July, 2016. Dale Beck is being appointed to the church after over 30 years of ministry in the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference and two previous interim ministry positions in Brighton, Colorado and Hope UMC in Greenwood Village. Beck is a graduate of the University of Illinois (BA), Iliff School of Theology (MDiv) and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (DMin). His last 15 years on ministry in Illinois were spent in campus churches. He retired to live in Estes Park in 2008 and has enjoyed hiking, skiing and trying to grow things in the Rocky Mountains, singing in the choir at the Estes Park United Methodist Church and serving as treasurer of the Estes Park Salud Foundation Board. Last year he developed a ministry of worship-hikes in the national park from which he will take a hiatus for the ministry at University Park. He has also worked with the Estes Park Restorative Justice Committee. He is on the Church and Society ministry team of Rocky Mountain Conference.

“I am particularly interested in how as Christian disciples we can work with persons of other faith traditions and cultures to be agents of wholeness and healing for our society and the world. I believe that we are at the front edge of what I call ‘The Second Great Reformation’ – a time when we move beyond the divisions of doctrines and embrace the essence of sacred relationships. This is truly an exciting time to be a congregation in ministry to each other and to the world.”
