We are a community of disciple leaders who practice stewardship and hospitality as we engage each other and the world around us.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are an inclusive church committed to:
- Experiencing God’s Grace
Worship is experienced during the gathering of the congregation, through study, and in our times of private reflections and prayers.
- Forming Christian Community
We believe that God is very much present in our lives and in this world, even in the midst of brokenness. Our task as disciples of Christ is to form a community that reflects God’s reconciliation in the midst of a diversity of life-styles and cultural experiences.
- Reaching Out with Empowering Compassion to Those in Need
When we reach out to others in need, we do so in ways that seek to transform their lives. In the process, our souls are enriched. This is the deep wisdom of mission. Our experience of God comes more complete through people who are in very different circumstances. Everyone is a child of God and deserves compassion.

University Park United Methodist Church has a vivid history dating to 1891, UPark’s first Sunday School met in the still-existing building at Evans and Milwaukee, now Stailey Insurance. On September 16, 1884, the University Park Methodist Episcopal Church was founded with 56 members. For a time, members worshiped in the Buchtel Chapel on the University of Denver campus, but by 1928 the first permanent building was constructed, today’s Wasser Chapel. The church has continued to grow since that date, with the Education Wing constructed in 1952, and the present Sanctuary complex constructed in 1968.
